NOAA Home Page National Hurricane Center Information http://www.nws.noaa.gov/om/marine/home.htm National Marine Forecast TRASH ORDINANCE #347 On June 20, 2006 a new trash Ordinance #347 went into effect for the City of Port St. Joe aimed at improving the health, safety and appearance of our city. We ask that all residents join in this effort to make our city an even better place to live. The full text of the ordinance is available at city hall. Listed below are the highlights of the ordinance and the points that affect most of our residents. Please take a few moments to review this sheet and keep it for future reference. If you have any questions, please contact city hall. The city is in the process of hiring an Ordinance Enforcement Official and of meeting equipment challenges. We hope to have everything in place in the near future, until then your cooperation and assistance is appreciated. Household garbage/trash - All household garbage and trash must be bagged and placed in the green (or black) trash cans provided by the city.
- Only these containers will be emptied by the contracted waste haulers.
- Clean, flattened, non-food cardboard may be stacked next to the cans for pick-up.No Styrofoam, plastic, or foam packing-these must be bagged.
- Any items that cannot be bagged must be hauled to the dump or call for a special pick-up*.
- Trash cans may be placed at the pick-up site the evening before pick-up and must be moved to a concealed location after pick-up.
Yard Waste A weekly pick-up of a 4’x4’x8’ yard waste pile.
- Branches of 4” diameter or smaller and not more than 4’ in length (with the exception of palm fronds).
- Pile should be placed with enough clearance for equipment to pick it up 7 to 10 feet is recommended.
- Bush clippings need to be trimmed to lie flat.
- DO NOT MIX ANY HOUSEHOLD GARBAGE/TRASH WITH YARD WASTE. State law prohibits the city from picking up ‘mixed piles’. The residents will be responsible for sorting these piles before they can be picked up.
Bulky WasteHOUSEHOLD—Appliances, furniture, construction materials, and any household trash that cannot be bagged – needs to be hauled to the dump or call for a special pick-up*.
- YARD WASTE – Tree or shrubbery cuttings larger that 4” in diameter or 4’ in length and all stumps need to be hauled to the dump or call for a special pick-up*.
* SPECIAL PICK-UP
- Residents must call – 229-8247 to arrange special pick-up of bulky waste. Reasonable fees as established by the Public Works director will be charged.
- Bulky waste cannot be put out for collection more than 24 hours before the scheduled pick-up.
- Do not place bulky waste in drainage ditches.
- Place bulky waste with sufficient clearance from buildings, utility poles, etc. to allow for the equipment to operate. 7-10 feet is recommended.
Place garbage/trash/bulky waste on your property only!
Residents are asked to make every effort to remove any garbage/trash/bulky waste that is not incompliance by August 25th, 2006 Local residential routes within the city limits of Port St. Joe are as follows: MONDAY All of north Port St. Joe Garrison and Marvin Avenue including Circles to 21st Street 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Street off Woodward and Long Avenue
TUESDAY Ward Ridge, ALL areas to college including circles Cecil Costin Blvd. to high school including Hwy 98 to Long including allies to golf course and Centennial area
